About IMDSC
The Institute for Molecular Design Sequencing Center can sequence a variety of sample types using Illumina (Solexa) Genome Analyzer.
We are currently located on the University of Houston campus in the Science and Research II building.
What We Can Do
-- The IMD Sequencing Center is capable of performing two (2) sequencing runs / week.
-- When sequencing run is complete, the Illumina/Solexa Analysis Pipeline will be used to analyze the images and output the sequence results. When analysis is complete, the User will be provided a link along with a username and password to access the results via the web.
-- Turn-around time is approximately 10 days (from receipt of user samples to when sequence data will be available).
Submitting Samples
-- Users are responsible for sample preparation (protocols available for download).
-- All 7 Sample lanes must be filled in order for a run to take place. Users may share a single run to split costs on a per lane basis.
-- There are two (2) methods a user can submit samples:
- Using PicoGreen quantification assay (or similarly highly sensitive method)
- Submit 10 microL of sample diluted to a 10nM stock solution
- User assumes responsibility for any run failure due to inaccurately quantified sample
- Users may also submit at least 5 microL of their un-quantified sample directly
- IMDSC can perform the quantification and preparation of 10nM stock for use in Flowcell generation
